සුත්‍ර පිටකයට අයත් වන්නේ සම්මා සම්බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ විසින් දේශනා කරන ලද පරම ගම්භීර ශ්‍රී සද්ධර්මය යි. සුත්‍ර දේශනා දාහත් දාහකට වඩා මෙහි අන්තර්ගතය. එය ප්‍රධාන කොටස් (නිකාය) පහකින් සමන්විතය. ඒවා නම්, දීඝ නිකාය, මජ්ඣිම නිකාය, සංයුත්ත නිකාය, අංගුත්තර නිකාය සහ ඛුද්දක නිකාය යනාදිය යි.

විනය පිටකය

විනය පිටකයට අයත් වන්නේ සම්මා සම්බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ විසින් භික්ෂූ සහ භික්ෂුණී සංඝයා වෙත දේශනා කරන ලද සංවර ශීල දේශනා යි. එම දේශනා ප්‍රධාන කොටස් පහකට බෙදා වෙන්කර ඇත. ඒවා නම්, පාරාජිකා පාළි, පාචිත්ති පාළි, මහා වග්ග පාළි, චුල්ල වග්ග පාළි සහ පරිවාර පාළි යනාදිය යි.

අභිධර්ම පිටකය

අසූ හාරදහසක් වන ශ්‍රී සද්ධර්මයෙන් ධර්මස්කන්ධ හතලිස් දෙදාහක්ම අයත් වන්නේ අභිධර්ම පිටකයටයි. මෙහි අන්තර්ගත වනුයේ සම්මා සම්බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ අවබෝධ කල ශ්‍රී සද්ධර්මයෙහි ගැඹුරු දහම් කොටස් ය. එම දේශනා ප්‍රධාන කොටස් හතකට බෙදා වෙන්කර ඇත. ඒවා නම්, ධම්‌මසඞ්‌ගණී ප්‍රකරණය, විභඞ්‌ග ප්‍රකරණය, ධාතුකථා ප්‍රකරණය, පුග්‌ගලපඤ්‌ඤත්‌ති ප්‍රකරණය, කථාවත්‌ථු ප්‍රකරණය, යමක ප්‍රකරණය සහ පට්‌ඨාන ප්‍රකරණය යනාදිය යි.

The History of Buddhism spans the 6th century BC to the present, starting with the birth of Buddha Siddhartha Gautama in Lumbini, Nepal. This makes it one of the oldest religions practiced today. The religion evolved as it spread from the northeastern region of the Indian subcontinent through Central, East, and Southeast Asia. At one time or another, it influenced most of the Asian continent. The history of Buddhism is also characterized by the development of numerous movements, schisms, and schools, among them the Theravāda, Mahāyāna and Vajrayāna traditions, with contrasting periods of expansion and retreat.

Second longest sutra in the Mahayana Canon, (40 chapters). It consists of large important, independent sutras, namely: Gandavyuha Sutra, Dashabhumika Sutra, Amitayurdyhana Sutra. It records the higher teaching of the Buddha to Bodhisattvas and other high spiritual beings.
